    Very good

Lovely room, clean, well decorated, warm.

No box of tissues in the room. Breakfast - 'plastic' toast and little plastic helpings of marmalade and jam.......disappointing considering the price of the hotel. Some fresh bread and home-made preserves would be much nicer.

Poor menu, limited choice. Room generally tatty - shower cubicle did not close, toilet seat didn't stay up

    Very good

Staff were very helpful when asked to provide additional facilities

The bedrooms were not attached to the main body of the hotel which I did not realise when booking

    Very good

The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was excellent.

The bedroom was rather small. I thought the rate for the room was a bit expensive considering the size of the bedroom, although it did have a large bathroom - not much smaller than the bedroom!

    Superb

The hotel was fantastic. The room was splendid and would be classified by most hotels as a Luxury room - here it was their standard. It had a lovely 4-poster bed, was in it's own private building with a room upstairs and downstairs and have great facilities -shower/bath/large double wardrobe etc. It's about 6 miles from town so is a few £s in taxis to go out in town or when shopping but at the reduced rate of £65 we didn't mind.

I wouldn't pay the £100 standard rate as I normally use hotel rooms to sleep - I'd definitely pay it for a relaxing weekend spent in the room though ;)

I could not fault this delightful hotel, a long time since I stayed at somewhere so pleasant.

    Very good

It is what it says, a cottage which has become a small but personal hotel with charm and character close to countryside.

    Very good

we had the ' garden suite' with flowers and lawn at the front.

The noise from a party group sitting outside the main hotel building.

    Very good

The room was a good size and the bathroom was excellent. Breakfast was fine.

There was no TV in the bedroom (only in the living room area). The room was slightly dated but fine and certainly clean.

    Exceptional

Situated in a pleasant large village with an excellent range of shops and facilities in a traditional setting. The hotel, comprising a charming collection of cottages and main property and very attractive gardens are well maintained and in a quiet location within the village. Given the quality of the hotel, the price, to include full English breakfast was outstanding. Very friendly helpful staff - we arrived very late but the member of staff on night duty was welcoming and helpful. We happened to be in the bar area when the owners were reviewing with wine rep. the wines to be offered in the restaurant. The time spent on this aspect reflected the care and attention to detail apparent throughout the hotel.

    Superb

The reception staff were very helpful and friendly, Paulette was a lovely waitress. My garden room was really comfortable and away from any noise so I slept really well which is great when away from home after a long day at work.

The gentleman on reception on the morning I checked out. He did not engage in any conversation or enquire if my stay had been ok. I found the silence very uncomfortable. However I think the next time I stay I will say something if I am made to feel like this again.

    Good

A lovely building in a delightful location, staff were very welcoming and friendly throughout our stay. Didn't have an evening meal but breakfast was good. Our bed was particularly comfortable and we slept very well considering we stayed on the hottest day of the year!

Room was very strangely decorated, first impressions were v good but on closer inspection much of the furniture was damaged, light/ bulbs weren't working, different carpet throughout, furniture/bedding did not match. Washbasin was badly cracked (and had been for a while) and taps were loose. Shower curtain was so long It was a trip hazard in the bath. Toilet appeared stained and there were sticky smudge marks on the dressing table. Some spotlights appeared loose. There was no yoghurt or tomatoes for breakfast despite being offered in the menu, I understand that supplies had run out but a bit of forethought and management could have purchased the items from a local supermarket until the official delivery, perhaps keep a stock of tinned tomatoes or baked beans, which would have been perfectly acceptable. Furnishing and decor in the dining room left a lot to be desired...... This place has terrific potential and I can see that money has been spent in certain areas but more attention to detail is needed.

Good stay. Honest value for money no frills hotel

Food better than dining room. Pleasant but unsophisticated staff who did their best
